Welcome to the website of Jamie Whyte – Professional Ironman
Prepare Well, Race Hard!
Jamie Whyte is one of New Zealand’s best performing long distance triathletes and competes professionally both here in New Zealand and overseas every year.
Initially a keen rugby player off a farm down in Southland, Jamie picked up triathlon as a pastime sport to fill the void once he hung up the rugby boots in 2003. What started out as a fun way to keep fit gradually evolved towards competitive age group racing and eventually competing professionally.
He has become an extremely consistent performer with multiple podium finishes on the international 70.3 Ironman series before stepping up to full iron distance racing with immediate success. In his second time competing over the full distance, he led the pro men’s field from start to finish to win Challenge Wanaka in 2011.
This victory was backed up with three more top four finishes in international long distance racing and, at the age of 32, he is looking forward to many more podium finishes in the years of competing ahead.
